An Important Message for Mendocino County Voters Regarding the June 2nd Judicial Election
As the upcoming election approaches, my goal is not to disparage Superior Court Judge Patrick M. Pekin, but rather to share factual, first-hand insights regarding his judicial record. Based on my personal experience with the court, I believe it is vital for voters to carefully evaluate whether his rulings align with the standards of fairness and competence our community deserves.
Throughout his tenure, Judge Pekin has issued rulings that raise serious questions about his judgment. In one notable case, a plaintiff whose truck was rear-ended while towing a trailer was awarded zero dollars for vehicle damage. Conversely, the judge awarded $500 for damage to the attached trailer, dismissing the truck's damage by claiming it would be "twisted physics". Logically, if an impact is severe enough to damage a towed trailer, that force directly transfers to the towing vehicle.
This ruling is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a pattern of decisions that have negatively impacted local citizens. For these reasons, I urge Mendocino County voters to consider a change in leadership and vote for a new perspective on June 2nd.
